The Dance
Dance of life never ends
Ebbs and flows, comes round again
Love, loss, joy, strife
Husband dies bereaving wife
Child is born, flame ignites
Plays, then works, attaining might
Dawn rolls into darkest night
She loves, in love, loves inspite
Many times is love heartbreaking
Relentless savage Time keeps taking
Life rolls on, joys to be had
Sping brings laughter
Heart is glad.
Creation astounds me,
Love abounds in Thee,
Your mercy sets me free…
The Song of Leaping Doe
I lie my weary body down,
Here, on your soft blanket of green.
Giving my burning bones to the mighty oak that will sprout,
Here, in the cradle of my rib cage.
May my sorrow die,
Here, on this hilltop where I lay.
May the images of death I see
Be forever shuttered by your clouds.
Let blow Your angry winds and
Pour your rain, Great Father,
May my sloughing skin
Nourish this earth that gave me birth.
Sink me deep in the black dirt, for the insects,
That feed the mighty bear and her cubs.
Let the morning sun come up to warm my patch of ground,
Bringing flowers to feed the butterfly, and bee…
And as they dance in your sun’s rays of hope,
May Your heart kindly remember me.

Plumage of gold and green/
Saturated color, only in dreams/
She flies above my winter bed/
A ribbon tangled round her head/
Beauty’s song is muted now/
Yet so pure and eloquent/
I try to catch her, hold her down/
I need to know what her song meant/
Slinking out, an arm entwines/ while in my head a dream unwinds /My vision blurs as visions come/ I feel speech slide off my tongue/ It floats away unheard, unread/ I swim out further, the sea my bed.
Octo-eel emeralds, such glistening fish/ you filet the flesh, I’ll eat, we’ll wish/ Wish to rise on yonder shore/when sirens’ call can drown no more.
Someone I loved floats slowly by/ now I feel that last goodbye/ People are beautiful when they drown/ soft hair floats just like a crown/ glorious flaxen, warmest brown. Their clothes billow/ they sink down.
Turquoise water-clear as conscience/ I see way back in my past/ teaching me your strange science/ my heartstrings lash me to your mast/ we must batten down the hatches for the tide’s receding fast!
My grief runs to blackened sea/ Do you ever think of me?/ I miss you too, more than the last/ Has any other bait been cast? Will my arms endure this battle ? Will this vessel be rent in two?/ I will never know the answer/ till love runs me through and thru
Rashly taking your deepest dive/ lifeboat saves us, just not alive.

Ahh, a stellar day for a rousing poem about fighting for God and righteousness like a knight in glistening armour! I can hear the metallic crash of shield to lance, and the boom of shipboard cannons!
Maybe I need to watch a rerun of Poldark!! I have been working on a nautical themed commission, that could have my brain on the high seas today. As far as righteous battles go, maybe a news story about an awesome film soon to be released triggered me…it is an attempt to tell unvarnished history, and I can’t wait to see it…”Kill all the Brutes!” I think is the name…
It will pull the wool away from many an eye!! So exciting!
Let those waves of change crash on yon shore!! Ride the storm out!
Things will seem to go OK, when suddenly they’ll stop,
. Face in the dirt, there I lay-then poof! I am up top.
. This brain of mine, this machine, that whirrs inside my head,
. Makes the bells and whistles ding even when I lay in bed.
. I need relief, some way, some how, to quiet racing thoughts,
Instead they throw some pills at me to make me who I’m not.
I always knew I would wind up alone,
. Now that it happened, now that I’ve grown…
. It’s the worst pain I’ve ever known.
. Can you see me going mad in here?
. Can you hear me? Can you, Dear?
. There’s a slim chance, if you hurry,
. That all the scary things will scurry,
. That the sky will clear, the rain will stop-
. And once again I’ll be on top.
